Intimacy during Cancer

Published February 25, 2009 by Patty Brisben

Maintaining intimacy can sometimes be challenging and can be further complicated when one or both partners are living with an illness or disease such as cancer. That’s why it was so important to me to launch our Sensuality, Sexuality, Survival (SSS) program. Since then, Pure Romance has made great strides in improving the quality of life for those dealing with the sexual repercussions of cancer and its associated treatments. We truly strive to offer women an alternative resource to help recapture their sensual and sexual selves through education, empowerment and safe product offerings.

One of my favorite parts of the program is the SSS Pajama (PJ) party that I have done for several years now at the Annual Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer. This year’s 9th annual conference is presented by Living Beyond Breast Cancer, the Young Survival Coalition and lead sponsor Susan G. Komen for the Cure ® and kicks off this week, February 27th – March 1st at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas. It was created specifically for young women affected by breast cancer and is the only international educational conference of its kind.

I’m so excited about doing the Pure Romance PJ party this Saturday; it will be one of the events at the conference that attendees will be able to participate in, in addition to over 25 workshops on topics relevant to breast cancer survival. Approximately 300 breast cancer survivors are expected to attend my party donning their best comfy pajamas. Gift bags including Pure Romance product will also be handed out at the event.
